Privacy and cookies on this help site

This page describes what help.knowledgecity.com collects and where it goes. It covers this help site only.

What we collect

Which pages you open, what you type into search, the questions you ask Casey, and whether you marked an article helpful. We never ask for your name or your email anywhere on this site.

Where it goes

To Mixpanel, our analytics provider, and to our own servers. You are identified only by a short scrambled code worked out from your network address and your browser. It is not a name or an account, it changes when your network changes, and it cannot be turned back into your address.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets one cookie, kc_consent. It records only whether you accepted or declined, so your answer can be honoured on every page you open. Mixpanel sets no cookie at all — it keeps its identifier in your browser’s local storage instead.

What declining does

Declining stops everything being sent to Mixpanel. We still count page views on our own servers, because that is how we see which articles are read and keep the site working. Those counts stay with us.

Country

If you accept, Mixpanel works out an approximate country from your network address. That is the only location involved, and none of it happens if you decline.

Changing your mind

Clear this site’s cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The banner will ask you again on your next visit.

KnowledgeCity Privacy Policy covers KnowledgeCity’s products and services as a whole. This page describes the help site specifically.
