Summary

This article explains how the Account dropdown menu works in Portal, including how student names are displayed and what each menu item does.

Introduction

The Account dropdown menu in Learning Portal provides quick access to essential student tools such as Account Settings, Calendar, My Progress, My Saved Lists, and Sign Out.

Requirements

Before using the Account dropdown menu:

• You must be logged into Portal.
• Your LMS profile should contain at least a username.
• For LMS Admin Login to appear, your admin account must be correctly linked to a student account in the LMS, and you must log in with that connected student account.

Steps to Follow

1. Overview of the Account Dropdown Menu

1. Click the profile icon in the upper-right corner of Portal to open the dropdown menu.
2. The menu includes the following items (highlighted in orange):

• Account Settings: manage your personal information
• Calendar : view upcoming events and access schedules
• My Progress: view points, awards, and leaderboard (if enabled)
• My Saved Lists: open your saved course lists
• LMS Admin Login (if applicable) : go to the LMS admin dashboard
• Sign Out : log out of Portal

2. Student Name

The first line of the Account dropdown menu shows the student’s name based on the information stored in the LMS.

Note: If the LMS admin updates name fields while logged into Portal, the changes will appear after re-authorization, because user details are refreshed during login.

3. Menu Item Details

Account Settings

• Opens: Account Settings → Personal Information tab.
• Use this page to view or update your personal information (where allowed by your organization).

Calendar

• Opens the Calendar page.
• This page includes two types of records:
• Events: scheduled training or sessions on specific dates
• Access Schedules: time windows when certain courses or content are available

My Progress

My Progress page behavior depends on Leaderboard visibility settings:

• If the Leaderboard is enabled
• Redirects to My Progress → Leaderboard tab.

Caption: The Leaderboard tab ranks learners by the points they have earned.

If the Leaderboard is disabled

• Redirects to My Progress → My Points tab.

Caption: The My points tab shows total points, course completion and daily activity.

My Saved Lists

Opens the My Saved Lists page, where students can access course lists they have previously saved.

Caption: The My Saved Lists page shows each saved list and the courses inside it.

LMS Admin Login (optional, only for admin+student accounts)This menu item appears only if all of the following are true:

• The student is linked to an admin in the LMS
• The admin logs into Portal via a student account connected to them

Clicking it redirects the user to LMS → Dashboard

Caption: LMS Admin Login appears in the dropdown only for an admin signed in through a linked student account.

Sign Out

Logs the student out of Portal and returns them to the Sign In page.

Expected Result

Students can quickly access all essential functions from the Account dropdown menu. The displayed name follows the LMS name field logic, and each menu item redirects to the correct page.

Admin–student connected users who log in with the correct linked student account will see an additional LMS Admin Login option that leads to the LMS admin dashboard.
