Certification Programs in KC Library

Summary

Certification Programs are curated groupings within KC Library that gather the courses associated with a single professional credential — PMI, SHRM, HRCI, or IIBA — so the relevant content sits together instead of scattered across categories.

Introduction

Most of KC Library is organized by subject: a learner looking for a skill browses Business, Compliance, Safety, Technology, or Finance and drills into a subcategory. That works well when you are looking for a topic.

It works less well when you are working toward a credential. The courses that count toward a PMI or SHRM credential are not confined to one subject area, and hunting for them one at a time is slow and easy to get wrong. Certification Programs solve that by grouping the content by credential rather than by subject.

Key Concepts

  • Certification Program: A curated grouping of the KC Library courses associated with one certification body.
  • The four bodies: Project Management Institute (PMI), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), HR Certification Institute (HRCI), and International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
  • Grouped by credential, not by subject: A Certification Program can draw courses from several categories, because that is how credentials work.
  • Accreditation is what makes it possible: KnowledgeCity's standing with each body — authorized training partner, recertification provider, or endorsed education provider — is what allows the grouped courses to count.
  • A grouping, not a course: A Certification Program is a way of organizing content. Completing it means completing the courses inside it.

Using Certification Programs

Identify your credential first

Certification Programs are organized around credentials, so start from the one you hold or are working toward. That determines which program is relevant and, just as importantly, whose rules you must follow.

Review the courses the program groups

A program gathers the courses tied to its certification body in one place. Reviewing the set as a whole tells you the scope of what is available for that credential, rather than leaving you to assemble it course by course.

Complete the courses that apply

Work through the courses on whichever platform your organization uses. Completion is what generates the record; browsing does not.

Confirm the requirements with your certification body

Each body sets its own rules on how many credits are needed, over what period, and how to report them. KnowledgeCity's accreditation makes the courses eligible; the reporting remains between you and the body.

Conclusion

Certification Programs group KC Library courses by the credential they support rather than by subject, covering PMI, SHRM, HRCI, and IIBA. Start from your own credential, review the courses the program gathers, complete the ones that apply, and check your certification body's own rules for reporting the credits.
