Navigating the Safety App

Summary

The Safety App brings your entire safety program into one connected workspace, organized around a handful of core areas: an executive dashboard, incidents, investigations, documents, training, and user management. This guide gives new users a map of those areas and how they fit together, so you can find where each task belongs and move between them with confidence.

Introduction

The Safety App is where your organization records, investigates, and reports on everything related to workplace safety. Instead of spreading policies, incident records, and training across disconnected folders and inboxes, it keeps them in one place and links related records to each other.

This guide is written for anyone who is new to the Safety App, including safety administrators, investigators, managers, and safety leaders. It explains the main modules and how you navigate between them, so you understand the overall layout before you dive into any single task.

Key Concepts

  • Executive Dashboard: the high-level reporting surface that rolls up your safety data into summary views for Incidents, Investigations, Training, and Trends.
  • Incidents: the records that capture individual safety events, each of which opens into its own Incident Detail page for tracking and resolution.
  • Incident Detail page: the focused workspace for a single incident, divided into tabs such as Overview, Persons, Timeline, Corrective Actions, Compliance, Investigations, Attachments, Documents, and Training.
  • Investigations: the area where investigative findings are documented and reviewed, both for individual incidents and as cross-investigation trends.
  • Documents: the central, searchable library that holds every controlled document, categorized and version controlled, and linked to the records that depend on it.
  • Training: the records and completion data for safety training, surfaced both in the dashboard and alongside individual incidents.
  • User management: the area where administrators invite users, assign roles, and control access to the workspace.
  • Role-scoped visibility: what each person can see and act on depends on their assigned role, so a safety director sees activity across all sites while a site manager sees only their location.

Steps to Follow

Get your bearings with the Executive Dashboard

Sign in to the Safety App and open the Executive Dashboard. This is the best starting point for new users because it summarizes your whole program on one screen. Use the segmented toggle to switch between Incidents, Investigations, Training, and Trends, and review headline measures such as the Executive Safety Scorecard and upcoming deadlines before drilling into any single record.

Work with incidents

Navigate to the incidents area to see the events recorded in your program. Select an incident to open its Incident Detail page, which is scoped to that single event. From there, move between tabs as a workflow: start on the Overview tab for core details and status, use Persons to manage the people involved, follow the Timeline for the sequence of events, and use Corrective Actions to drive the follow-up work that resolves the incident.

Review investigations and compliance

Use the Investigations view on the dashboard to see patterns rolled up across records, such as top contributing factors, recurrence rates, and location hotspots. Within a single incident, open the Investigations and Compliance tabs on the Incident Detail page to capture findings and review the incident against requirements.

Find and manage documents

Open the Documents page to reach the central library that holds every controlled document, including policies, procedures, SOPs, and incident evidence. Because the library is searchable and organized into categories, use it to locate a specific document and to check its version history. Documents also appear in context on the Documents tab of an incident, so supporting materials stay tied to the record they belong to.

Track training

Use the Training view on the Executive Dashboard to monitor completion rates, overdue counts, and trends by department. When training relates to a specific incident, review it on the Training tab of that incident's Incident Detail page.

Manage users and access

If you are an administrator, open the Users area to control who can access the workspace. From here you invite new people, edit their details, assign the Role that defines their permissions, and deactivate anyone who no longer needs access. Because visibility is role-scoped, setting the right role determines what each person sees as they navigate the app.

Conclusion

Once you know the main areas of the Safety App, navigating it becomes straightforward: start at the Executive Dashboard for the big picture, drill into incidents and their detail tabs to do the work, and rely on the documents, training, and user management areas to keep your program organized and secure. With this map in mind, you can confidently find where each task belongs and move between areas without losing your place.
